I created this still life with items inherited from my grandmother and great-grandmother: a crystal bowl filled with lemons, a cup of tea, a silver champagne cooler used as a vase, all set on a lace placemat and a floral tablecloth.
This original acrylic painting on canvas is preserved with a UV-protective varnish. The canvas is 11 x 14 x 0.75 inches.
About the collection:
In life, it's easy to focus on big events: birthdays, holidays, and "firsts." But most of life is made up of those in-between moments. Small, everyday moments can be the most meaningful parts of life.
In painting, I'm obsessed with the idea of negative space--the space in between the objects pictured. I love to blur the line between positive and negative space. At first glance, you might focus on the central "important" object, but upon further reflection, you'll see that the background--the in between--is just as significant.
